Things I'm Loving This Week

22 November 2013

There's nothing I love more than looking at the silver lining. This week started off rather heinous because of the whole flu thing, but it's turned around! Here's my list of things I'm loving this week:

Sleep

Who knew a girl could sleep so much? I think Tuesday I managed to sleep a much-needed 14-hours! Boo-ya!

Super Fun Night

Good ol' Rebel Wilson just really knows how to make a girl laugh.

Surprise Chipotle

I tweeted this today, and it was awesome!

Leia

When you're feeling under the weather, nothing beats seeing this cute little face!

Catching Fire

I went to see Catching Fire last night with some old friends from college, and oh my! It was amazing! I mean, I'm a fan of the series so even if it sucked I probably would have still enjoyed it, but wow! It was executed way better than the first movie, and being that Catching Fire was my fave book of the series, I held a pretty high standard to the movie. It did bot disappoint. If you haven't seen it yet, go this weekend!

Getting Good Sushi

I have hesitated ordering sushi since I've moved into the city for fear that I would get food poisoning and die. Finally, after asking around I found a good sushi joint, and picked some up for lunch and just ate the crap out it. It was so good. What's even better? Didn't get sick. Win.

Christmas Music

In preparation of Christmas decorating next week, I've been pumping myself up by blasting the Yule tide tunes! And since today is #backthatazzup Friday, I've selected one of the many that have been repeating aaaalll week!

Grow Your Blog Link Up #01

19 November 2013

Happy Tuesday guys! Today I'm literally feeling like death. It seems procrastinating to get my flu shot has left me vulnerable to the flu and I am currently laying in bed all sickly with a bucket next to my bed. It's really a beautiful sight. If I've learned one thing out of this it's this: get your flu shot guys, seriously.

Anyways, vomit and delusions aside, I'm happy to announce a link-up I'm co-hosting with One Chocolate Box!

Welcome to the very first Grow Your Blog Link Up!

It's a link up specifically for new bloggers (those with less than 500 followers per social medium are welcome too). It's a chance to meet other new bloggers, and hopefully build networks and friendships.

There are no fees for co-hosting. Just email Toni at onechocolatebox@gmail.com if you're interested.

Link ups start every Wednesday at 9pm NZDT for all you Kiwis and Tuesday 9pm EST if you're an East-coaster like moi.

Each week, one participant will be randomly selected, and gets featured on the following week's blog hop. More free exposure!

There'll also be a giveaway from time to time, so make sure to check back each week.
1. Toni put a lot of work into this link- up, so go follow One Chocolate Box!

2. Follow the co-hosts! Let us know you're following from the Link Up, so we can follow you back.

3. Link up in the appropriate section using your blog URL or profile URL. Remember you can only link up in the section if you have less than 500 followers in it.

4. Visit and follow at least 1 other blogger. Let them know what you like about their blog.

5. Return the love, follow your new followers!

6. It would be super if you shared the Link Up via Facebook or Twitter. The more people join up, the more potential followers you can get.

7. I'd love you forever if you grabbed the button below and place it on your sidebar!

A big welcome to all the lovely co-hosts this week:

Kate at Odd One Out
Jennifer at Magic Cat Jenny
Chynna at The Invisible Child
Bri at Deliciously Active

Thanks so much for co-hosting ladies!

Someday I Will...

31 October 2013

I am so bummed I didn't jump on Taylor's link-up, but I loved the concept so much that I decided to jump on the bandwagon a little late! What a great way to wrap up BLOGtober?!

The Daily Tay

Someday I will not live paycheque to paycheque and will have a real savings account with real savings in it.

Someday I will write a novel. A proper one. With characters and chapters, and an interesting plot.

Someday I will have curtains in my living room.
See? No curtains.
I've lived here for almost four months and I still don't have them.

Someday I will learn to go an entire day without falling down or tripping over my own feet.

Someday I will have a family of my own. A husband, children, Leia, and maybe even a dog.

Someday I will actually wake up at my first alarm instead of my third.

Someday I will go to Europe, backpack, immerse myself in the culture and never return (for a little while at least).

Someday I will have a full-time job that I spent years of education and thousands of dollars preparing for. And love it.

Someday I will look back at this year and thank myself for taking the risks I did, and smile.

Peace out, Kate

Hair probs & other confessions

29 October 2013

Beauty Confessions...

Last week I shared some of my favourite nail polishes this season, and in doing so I confessed that I'm not much of a "beauty" girl. Since you guys enjoyed it so much, I've decided to share with you all some more of my "Beauty Confessions".

I don't brush my hair..
Okay, so I brush my hair sometimes but for the most part, I part my hair and let it air dry. My hair is just so long and wavy that if I do brush it, it poofs out a la Hermione Granger. There is the odd time I will comb it out after I wash it though. Which brings me to my next confessions...

I wash my hair maybe 2 or 3 times a week.
Not to be confused with showering. I generally shower daily, I just don't always wash my hair. My excuse again being that my hair is so long, washing it all of the time actually dries it out, and it takes forever to rinse out. I'm lazy, so sue me. Honestly though, it's actually really good for your hair if you don't over wash it. It does dry out the hair, so your body tries to overproduce oils to make up for the dryness, making it way more oily than it should be. I typically use dry shampoo to keep my hair looking so fresh an' so clean.

Sometimes I don't wash all my makeup off at night.
It's gross. I'm not saying I'm proud of it. Sometimes I'm just so exhausted that I barely have the energy to get into bed let alone wash my face. No bueno. This one's going to need some major work.

I definitely don't drink 8 glasses of water per day.
Maybe like, 5? I know drinking water is good for your overall health, and staying hydrated is super important but sometimes instead of grabbing water to drink, I'll grab a Coke or juice. Bad Kate.

I don't get my hair cut every 6 weeks.
I read somewhere that in order to maintain healthy hair and natural growth, you should get your hair trimmed every six weeks. Well this white girl is poor so she can't afford that many hair cuts. I think the last time I got my hair cut was in July.... so my hair is pretty darn long. I definitely need a haircut..

As Usher Raymond IV would say, these are my confessions. What are yours?

ALSO my friend Karly is doing this super rad linkup with Glossy Blonde called Totally Posted Tuesdays. So go check it out and link up!

Peace out, Kate
