Things I'm loving this winter.
28 November 2013
The weather has been getting more and more Canadian by the day, and by that I mean it's getting effing colder every morning I wake up. Being that the weather is getting so cold, I've been eyeing some fabulous new fashion finds both online and during my daily walk to the subway station. I've made a list of sorts (we'll say it's a "wish-list" but let's be honest, I'm definitely getting err thang).

There's nothing I love more than looking at the silver lining. This week started off rather heinous because of the whole flu thing, but it's turned around! Here's my list of things I'm loving this week:
Sleep
Who knew a girl could sleep so much? I think Tuesday I managed to sleep a much-needed 14-hours! Boo-ya!
Super Fun Night
Good ol' Rebel Wilson just really knows how to make a girl laugh.
Surprise Chipotle
I tweeted this today, and it was awesome!
Leia
When you're feeling under the weather, nothing beats seeing this cute little face!
Catching Fire
I went to see Catching Fire last night with some old friends from college, and oh my! It was amazing! I mean, I'm a fan of the series so even if it sucked I probably would have still enjoyed it, but wow! It was executed way better than the first movie, and being that Catching Fire was my fave book of the series, I held a pretty high standard to the movie. It did bot disappoint. If you haven't seen it yet, go this weekend!
Getting Good Sushi
I have hesitated ordering sushi since I've moved into the city for fear that I would get food poisoning and die. Finally, after asking around I found a good sushi joint, and picked some up for lunch and just ate the crap out it. It was so good. What's even better? Didn't get sick. Win.
Christmas Music
In preparation of Christmas decorating next week, I've been pumping myself up by blasting the Yule tide tunes! And since today is #backthatazzup Friday, I've selected one of the many that have been repeating aaaalll week!

That AMAZING moment when you find out there's a Chipotle literally 3 minutes away from work...

30 October 2013
It's almost November, so I thought it would be a great time to wrap up October (and BLOGtober) with some of my favourite things of the month!
7. My converse. I've had these bad boys since high school and I've been wearing the crap out of them lately. They are perfect for walking around in the city and are so broken in they make my feet happy to wear them. Regardless of fashion sense, I wear them with jeans, leggings and dress pants.
One more thing that I just LOVED this month was my blog! Seriously guys, this BLOGtober challenge I put for myself has really allowed me to grow as a blogger and helped me find my niche. I'm so thankful for all my new followers, and all the new friends I've made this month. It's actually pretty awesome.

1. Tazo Chai Latte. I have been drinking this stuff like water. It's basically the same stuff Starbucks uses for their chai lattes. I just mix about 1/4 cup of this concentrate with some soy milk and heat it in the microwave (if you're anti-micro just use the stove top). Sprinkle some cinnamon and voila! Best part- it's $4 for the lot. Which is waaay cheaper than $4 for 1 drink. Woo!
2. Allegiant. Allegiant just came out, and I already love it. Despite my best efforts, I haven't finished the book yet, but I already know I'm going to be happy with the final result. This book is the bomb dot com and you better get ready for a book review on this bad boy. If you aren't on the Divergent train yet, get on it pronto!
3. St. Ives Firming Mask. With the weather switching as much as it has been here in Toronto, my skin has been going from oily to dry over night and it's making me look really drab. I've been loving this mask because it freshens my skin and makes it feel softer and firmer. It's sups cheap too, which is another bonus.
4. CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara. I like this stuff because it makes my eyelashes look full and long without being clumpy and spidery. My all-time favourite mascara is Benefit's They're Real, but it's just so expensive to buy regularly, I found this to be a great alternative when you're on a budget.
5. Captain Phillips. Last week I went and saw this movie and I wasn't so sure how I'd like it. I'm not going to lie, the movie was at 9:30 at night (which it already past my bedtime) and I had a hard time staying awake at first, but the movie picked up real fast, and the rest of the movie my eyes were glued to the screen. Tom Hanks was amazing as usual, and what's even cooler is that the movie was actual based on a real life event! He's probably going to win an award, so you guys should go see it.
6. Katy Perry's Prism. You know how I feel about Katy, so when her album was released I didn't skip a beat in taking a listen to the album. I love it. Check out her song, By The Grace of God.

I live in Canada, which even if you know nothing about Canada, the one thing you do know is that we have winter for about 8 months of the year. Typically we start getting very cold weather around this time of year, and it isn't uncommon for us to have snow on Halloween.
So in preparation for the upcoming winter weather that I'm anticipating in the next few weeks, I've comprised a list of some of my "Fall into Winter" must-haves.
EOS Lip Balm
A super cute (and warm) hat
A long coat
(Soy) Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha
A good book
A soft, snuggly cat to cozy up to
Here's to a happy winter!

Cold weather means chapped lips, and there's nothing that I hate more than cracked, chapped lips so I always carry one of these suckers with me wherever I go. My personal fave is the Sweet Mint. Yum!A super cute (and warm) hat

Canadian winters are nothing to joke about, so I need to keep my ears covered. I also have an unruly amount of hair, and if the wind blows just a little this mane is going to end up a whole lot of hot mess. Having a hat on keeps it from going everywhere, plus I look adorable in it.A long coat

Sticking to the outerwear theme, something I've wanted to invest in for quite some time has been a jacket that goes past my bum (and it's a huge bum, so that takes quite a bit of material in aaaalll the wrong places). But I finally found a coat that I think works great with my curves, is long enough to cover my butt, and is different enough that I don't look like every other girl in a black peacoat. ModCloth has just introduced two new private labels, and this Pier Before Your Eyes Coat is part of Myrtlewood's collection. Aaaand because the size goes all the way up to a 4X, just about any girl can get their hands on this gorgie piece of clothing. Love it.(Soy) Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha

These things are dangerous for me. They are so tasty. White chocolate? Yum. Peppermint? Double yum. The best freaking espresso ever? Yum, yum, yum! This girl is lactose intolerant so she get's it soy, or lactose free. My suggestion is that if you haven't tried it, you're missing out. Big time.A good book

Right now I'm reading, Let's Pretend This Never Happened... by Jenny Lawson. Sometimes when it's freezing cold out and there's like, 20 cm of snow on the ground, you just gotta pick up a book and have at 'er.A soft, snuggly cat to cozy up to
I know, she's totally adorable.
You don't actually think I'd leave Leia out of this post, did you? In my experience, the best thing to do on a cold winter's day is to snuggle up to a warm, fuzzy pet. Whether it's a tyrant kitty like Leia, or another fuzzy pet. Here's to a happy winter!
